Greenwood Kitchen
completed 2019
Kitchen and living room re-design in a 1953 tri-level home. In the original layout, the kitchen and living room were separated by a load-bearing closet wall and both rooms had 8’ ceilings. To create an open layout, a glu-lam beam was installed to carry the load across the space and the ceilings were vaulted. Insulation, plumbing, and electrical were brought up to code. A 12’ island with outlets to creates a homework station near the cooking area for easy family communication. An induction cooktop with pop-up hood allows for an unobstructed view through the kitchen. Boomerang pulls, Big Chill appliances, and a salvaged drainboard sink are featured as a nod to the mid-century era of the home.
